And when it comes to exploring Boston on foot, she has a few favorite routes.
4 BOSTON 10K RUNNING ROUTES TO TRY
1. Charles River Esplanade
π Back Bay & Charles River | Approximately 6.2 miles
Best for: River views and skyline scenery
It's a Boston running classic for a reason. Start near the Public Garden and make your way toward the Charles River Esplanade, heading west along the waterfront paths toward the BU Bridge.
Turn around and retrace your steps, adjusting your turnaround point to reach 10K. With river views, bridges, and the Boston skyline along the way, it's one of those routes that makes the miles go by a little faster.
2. Seaport Piers & Harborwalk
π Seaport | Approximately 6.2 miles
Best for: Waterfront views
If running by the water is your thing, this one's for you. Start near the Seaport Boulevard Bridge and follow the Harborwalk past Fan Pier Park and the ICA, winding around the waterfront piers as you make your way toward Drydock Avenue.
From there, continue toward the Summer Street Bridge before looping back toward your starting point. Between the harbor views, boats, and city skyline, there's plenty to keep you entertained along the way.
3. Castle Island & South Boston Waterfront
π South Boston | Approximately 6.2 miles
Best for: Ocean views
A Southie favorite! Start at Castle Island and loop around Pleasure Bay, passing Fort Independence before continuing along William J. Day Boulevard toward Carson Beach.
Turn back toward Castle Island to complete your distance. With open water, ocean breezes, and plenty of shoreline scenery, it's a great option when you're craving some fresh air with your miles.
4. Boston Common, Comm Ave & South End
π Downtown, Back Bay & South End | Approximately 6.2 miles
Best for: A scenic city run
Prefer city streets to waterfront paths? This route takes you through some of Boston's most recognizable neighborhoods.
Start at Boston Common, make your way through the Public Garden, and head west along Commonwealth Avenue. From there, continue south into the South End around Union Park before returning to the Common.
Think brownstone-lined streets, historic architecture, and plenty of Boston charm. It's a fun way to explore the city while getting your miles in.
