Who We Are
Fit Scene Boston (“Fit Scene,” “we,” “us”) is a directory of Boston's fitness community — studios, events, run clubs, and perks — operated by Sky Forward Design. This policy covers the fitscene.co website and the Fit Scene Boston iOS app. Questions? Email us at bostonfitscene@gmail.com.
What We Collect on the Website
Newsletter signup. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address (and name, if you provide it). Subscriptions are managed through Brevo, our email service provider, and used only to send you our newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — pages visited, approximate location (city level), device and browser type. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects your IP address. We use this data in aggregate to improve the site; we do not use it to identify you.
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure (Google Cloud) keeps standard technical logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
What We Collect in the iOS App
Location (optional).If you grant location permission, the app uses your location while it is open to show studios near you and estimated walk times. Your coordinates are sent to our servers only to answer the “what's nearby” request and are not stored, profiled, or linked to your identity. You can decline or revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings; the rest of the app works without it.
That's it. The app has no accounts, no sign-in, and no tracking. It does not use advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs. Studio, event, and run club data you browse is cached on your device for performance.
What We Never Do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We do not run ads or ad tracking. We do not build profiles of you across other apps or websites.
Third-Party Services & Links
We rely on a small set of service providers to run Fit Scene: Google Cloud (hosting and storage), Google Analytics (website analytics), Brevo (newsletter delivery), and Apple (App Store distribution; Apple may share opt-in, aggregated app analytics with us). Each processes data only to provide their service.
Fit Scene links out to studios, event pages, ticketing sites, and social media. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we're not responsible for their practices. Promo codes shown in the app are provided to us by the businesses themselves.
Cookies
The website uses cookies for Google Analytics as described above. You can block cookies in your browser settings or install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The iOS app does not use cookies.
Data Retention & Your Choices
Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' standard retention settings. To unsubscribe, use the link in any newsletter. To ask what we have about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, email bostonfitscene@gmail.com and we'll take care of it.
Children
Fit Scene is a general-audience service for adults exploring Boston's fitness scene and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and its effective date. Meaningful changes will be called out on the site or in the newsletter.
