Jess Marcarelli, Tobey Stohr, Kara Lennon, and Emma Ellis, the four instructors leading the End of Summer Send-Off at the Rooftop Wellness Series finale at View Boston on September 19th.

Meet the four instructors leading the Rooftop Wellness Series Finale — and learn how movement, community, and passion have shaped their journeys. Plus, get a preview of what to expect on September 19th!

On Saturday, September 19, four of Boston's most dynamic instructors will headline the End of Summer Send-Off, the finale of the Rooftop Wellness Series presented by Fit Scene Boston and View Boston — in partnership with B-Side. Two experiences happening simultaneously, 750 feet above the city. We caught up with all four ahead of September 19th to hear about their journeys and what to expect in class.

YOGA + SOUND BATH · 52nd Floor · Indoors · 9:00am

MEET TOBEY

Tobey Stohr, founder of JOYN and yoga instructor, leading the Yoga + Sound Bath class at the End of Summer Send-Off at View Boston.

Tobey Stohr is the founder of JOYN, a Boston-based community built around yoga and wellness events throughout the city. His journey into fitness was anything but linear — he didn't truly find his athletic abilities until he was 26, and didn't fully dial things in until he was 34. That late-bloomer perspective shapes everything about the way he teaches, and it's what makes his classes feel so genuinely welcoming to everyone who walks in.

Tobey teaches regularly at Boston Yoga Union and The Handle Bar. His classes center on the connection between mind, body, and breath — building an awareness that extends far beyond the mat and into everyday life.

His Class in Three Words

Inclusive. Calming. Empowering.

What to Expect in Class

"A creative flow with soul-stirring sound that will keep your body and mind engaged." Expect intentional, seamless movement followed by a deeply restorative sound bath — the perfect way to reset and soak in 750 feet of Boston skyline.

MEET JESS

Jess Marcarelli, yoga instructor and co-founder of Fit Scene Boston, leading the Yoga + Sound Bath class at the End of Summer Send-Off at View Boston.

Jess' first real introduction to a weight room was at the rec center in college, where she developed something of a reputation for being the only girl on the "guys' side" of the gym (she's proud of how far this stigma has come!) From there, she fell in love with boutique fitness in every form — CrossFit, Bikram yoga, boxing, barre, and everything in between. In 2016, she got her yoga teacher certification, and has been teaching, learning, and evolving ever since. Today she is a co-founder of Fit Scene Boston and teaches at Equinox and FORMAT.

Her Class in Three Words

Energetic. Intentional. Playful.

What to Expect in Class

"Thoughtful sequencing that connects breath to movement and challenges you enough to get you out of your head and into the moment. Expect to work hard without taking yourself too seriously, make a new friend, share a laugh, and leave feeling a little lighter than when you walked in."

OUTDOOR DJ SCULPT · 51st Floor Rooftop Deck · 9:30am

MEET EMMA

Emma Ellis, Boston-based fitness instructor, leading the Outdoor DJ Sculpt class at the End of Summer Send-Off at View Boston.

Emma Ellis is a Boston-based fitness instructor who found her way into fitness through a love of movement, community, and feeling strong. Teaching Pilates completely changed the way she approached fitness — it showed her that movement can be both challenging and fun while remaining intentional and focused on form. Today she teaches at Studio78, The Handle Bar, and CorePower Yoga, creating classes that leave people feeling stronger, more confident, and excited to come back.

For Emma, the Boston fitness community is what makes it all worthwhile. "Boston has such an incredible mix of studios, instructors, and people who genuinely love moving and supporting one another. I love that fitness here feels so social and connected — it's not just about the workout, it's about the people you meet and the community you build along the way."

Her Class in Three Words

Challenging. Fun. Empowering.

What to Expect in Class

"A full-body beat-based workout that challenges you while still feeling fun and approachable. You'll definitely work, but you'll also leave feeling energized and accomplished."

MEET KARA

Kara Lennon, fitness instructor and founder of Hot Girls Lift Weights, leading the Outdoor DJ Sculpt class at the End of Summer Send-Off at View Boston.

Kara Lennon's path to fitness started in 2012 as a personal trainer fresh out of college. She left to pursue a career in education — spending several years as a PE and elementary school teacher — but kept teaching fitness on the side, knowing it was where she was meant to be. After a leap of faith, she left academia to teach full time and never looked back. With over 13 years of experience across personal training, cycling, and sculpt, she now teaches at Backyard Boston and Studio78, founded Hot Girls Lift Weights, and serves as an FP Movement Run Ambassador.

Her Class in Three Words

Energizing. Empowering. Fun.

What to Expect in Class

High energy, great music, and a class rooted in something deeper than just the physical. Kara brings her signature ability to transfer energy to everyone in the room — expect to be challenged, to laugh, and to leave feeling stronger than when you walked in.
