HYROX Boston 2026: Your Guide to Classes, Training & Events

Athletes training for HYROX Boston 2026 — functional fitness stations and running at Backyard Boston ahead of the October race at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

Everything you need to know before HYROX Boston this October — where to train, which simulations to sign up for, and how to get race-ready across the city.

HYROX is coming back to Boston this October — and this time, it's chasing the Olympics.

With participation now approaching 1.5 million athletes annually across more than 100 cities and 35 countries, HYROX organizers are developing a standardized "Hyathlon" format with the goal of potential Olympic inclusion in 2032 or 2036. What started as a niche fitness competition has become one of the fastest-growing competitive formats in the world — and Boston's training community is ready.

The HWPO HYROX Boston race returns October 8–11, 2026, at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, with athletes competing across singles, doubles, adaptive, and other divisions. If you're training for it, curious about it, or just looking for a new fitness challenge, here's everything you need to know.

What Is HYROX?

HYROX combines 8K of running with eight functional fitness stations — alternating between a 1K run and a workout station. The eight stations are:

  1. SkiErg — 1,000m
  2. Sled Push — 50m
  3. Sled Pull — 50m
  4. Burpee Broad Jumps — 80m
  5. Rowing — 1,000m
  6. Farmer's Carry — 200m
  7. Sandbag Lunges — 100m
  8. Wall Balls — 100 reps

Every athlete competes on the same course worldwide, making your finish time directly comparable to competitors across the globe. It's part endurance race, part strength challenge — and it requires training for both.

Training for Your First HYROX?

You don't have to be an elite athlete to participate. HYROX is designed around a standardized combination of running and functional movements, with different divisions allowing athletes to choose the level that works for them.

If you're new to HYROX, we'd recommend starting with a class or simulation before race day. You'll get a feel for the movements, learn how your body responds to running immediately before strength work, and — perhaps most importantly — figure out your pacing.

Stay tuned for our upcoming HYROX coach Q&A, where Boston's top HYROX trainers will share their best advice for first-timers, common mistakes, and how to prepare for race day.

Boston's HYROX community is growing fast, and there are plenty of ways to get involved before October. Looking for more ways to move? Check out Fit Scene's Boston fitness directory for more gyms, studios, run clubs, classes, and events around the city.
